The official Master Course in Electrical Energy Conversion and Power Systems (EECPS) traines high-level professionals in some of the most challenging areas of electrical engineering, such as renewable energy systems (electrical power systems, smart grid integration, system design and control strategies), sustainable electric transportation (analysis and design of electric vehicles, specific electric grids), and energy efficiency and circular economy of energy (smart grid operation, internet of energy, technical-economic analysis, project management, sustainable design and management):

Electrical Power Systems are the systems comprising the physical infrastructures and control & monitoring methods required for electrical energy generation, transport, distribution and supply. Power Systems are undergoing a revolution due to the increasing penetration of renewable energies (solar photovoltaic, wind), energy generation, conversion and storage disruptive technologies (new electrical machines and solar modules, batteries and supercapacitors), and control and monitoring digital technologies (data measurement and processing, control and supervision algorithms, communications, IoT, artificial intelligence, visual analytics).
The EECPS is the only Master in Spain that combines the scientific-technological and technical-economic aspects of Electrical Power Systems as a whole, focusing on the integration of renewable energy (with special emphasis on offshore wind) and sustainable transport, encompassing disciplines such as electronics, systems control, electrical engineering, project management, or economic management.
Students are integrated into a real working environment, very similar to that of their future employment, which allows them to address problems from a multidisciplinary point of view, both in terms of research and management and taking into account technological, economic, environmental and social aspects. Faculty from national and foreign universities (University of Nottingham, Polytechnic of Coimbra), as well as from relevant companies, from either multinational corporations, SMEs or technology start-ups (EdP and EdPR, VW Group, ABB, Siemens-Gamesa, Cegasa, etc.) participate in the Master, which provides the learning with practical content, making it possible to carry out paid internships in companies or research centers
The collaborations established within the framework of the degree with leading companies and academic institutions worldwide (through seminars, teaching by visiting professors, joint Master's Thesis or internships) make this course a unique opportunity to successfully acquire the key competencies demanded in a specialized sector that is constantly evolving.
The Universidad de Oviedo is among the 500 top wolrd universities (Ranking Shanghai 2019).
EPI Gijón has AUDIT certification and institutional accreditation by the Council of Universities)
The Master has renewed the accreditation by ANECA in 2019 (with an updated academic program in 2021), and the associated Erasmus Mundus EJMJD STEPS has renewed its seal also for 4 editions (until 2025).
